About Guardians of Magdala
Protecting sacred ground through charitable guardianship — connecting believers worldwide to the birthplace of Mary Magdalene.
Our Mission
Guardians of Magdala exists to protect the sacred ground of Migdal — the town where Mary Magdalene lived, where Jesus taught, and where one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the modern era was made.
Through charitable guardianship, we connect believers worldwide to this holy ground. Every Guardian receives a permanent, verifiable connection — their name in the Registry, a physical Certificate of Guardianship, and the knowledge that they have contributed to preserving sacred history.
Our Values
Stewardship
We protect sacred ground for future generations through responsible, transparent management.
Connection
Every believer deserves a tangible link to the land where their faith began.
Permanence
Guardianships are forever. The Registry is permanent. The commitment is enduring.
Integrity
We operate with complete transparency — public Registry, auditable finances, open verification.
The Land
Migdal (also known as Magdala) sits on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. It was a thriving fishing town in the first century — the hometown of Mary Magdalene, the first witness to the resurrection.
In 2009, archaeologists discovered a first-century synagogue at Migdal — the first synagogue from the Second Temple period found in Galilee. Inside was the Magdala Stone, a carved limestone block bearing the oldest known depiction of the Temple menorah in a synagogue context. Coins from the reign of Tiberius, a harbour, and ritual baths were also unearthed. This was Mary's town. This was where she lived. This was real.
